Rakan Abdullah Abunayyan
Chairman-Independent

Mr. Rakan Abdullah Abunayyan has been appointed as Chairman of Alistithmar Capital since April 2022. Rakan is an experienced investment executive who has spent the last 18 years working in different fields from Investment research, teaching, and investing and worked in several aspects wearing the hat of the regulator from his experience in the Central bank of Saudi to the investment side being known as an active investor in Saudi Arabia. Rakan brings hands-on experience in turning around legacy enterprises, growing green fields into market leaders, innovating products, implementing digitization and creating new operating models by being an active player in the venture capital market in Saudi. Rakan now is an active board member in several companies in Saudi, such as, Ashmore Investment Saudi Arabia, Abunayyan Trading company, First Milling company, and the Chairman of MEDGULF Insurance co. where he led its transformation. Rakan was also an advisory board member to the Capital Market Authority, and a board member in Riyadh Chamber of commerce. Rakan currently is the Chief Investment Officer of Abunayyan Holding a conglomerate company that engages in trading, manufacturing, servicing, and investing in water, oil, gas, and power markets in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries. Rakan holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting from King Saud University in Saudi Arabia and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. Rakan is a Certified Public Accountant.

Faisal Abdullah Al-Omran
Board Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors

Mr. Faisal Abdullah Al-Omran is the Chief Executive Officer of The Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB) and has been appointed as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alistithmar Capital since October 2023. Faisal joined SAIB in 2007 with a wealth of experience in investment management gained from reputed entities. Initially joining in the investment banking and corporate finance division of the Bank, Faisal successively held senior management positions and was appointed the Treasurer & Chief Investment Officer in 2015. In 2017, he was appointed as the deputy Chief Executive Officer and in February 2019 he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer. Faisal holds a bachelor's degree in business administration, majoring in finance and accounting with honors from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, USA in addition to completing several executive education and short training courses from various reputable universities globally including INSEAD and London Business School. Faisal has previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Credit Bureau (SIMAH), Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alistithmar Capital, and Board member of Amlak International Finance Company, in addition to serving on various Board committees of these companies.


Salman Badar Al Fughom
Board Member

Mr. Salman Badar Al-Fughom has served The Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB) since the last 14 years. He is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of SAIB since January 2020. In his current role, he maintains an oversight of the Bank’s business, strategy, operations, internal controls, and assists the CEO of the Bank in ongoing business matters. Mr. Al-Fughom is part of several Management Committees in the Bank, including the Management Committee Credit Committee, Assets Liability Management Committee, Enterprise Risk Committee, ECL Management Committee, and Sustainability Committee. Previously, Mr. Al-Fughom served the Bank in the capacity of Treasurer & Chief Investment Officer from September 2017 to December 2019 and Deputy Treasurer from October 2015 to August 2017. In his role as the Treasurer, Mr. Al-Fughom was responsible for overall management of the Bank’s Treasury function, including Assets Liability management, bank funding strategy, hedging strategy, balance sheet management, and Gap management. Prior to these positions, Mr. Al-Fughom started in SAIB as the Head of Investments in November 2006 and continued serving in that position until his promotion in September 2015. He headed the Investment department managing around SAR22 billion of international and local multi assets portfolio, and was responsible for setting up and implementing the Bank’s investment strategy Mr. Al-Fughom started his career as a Portfolio Analyst in the Investment Department of The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) where he assisted with managing the fixed income portfolio and implementing working group view on the investment strategy. Mr. Al-Fughom is the Vice Chairman of Saudi ORIX Leasing Company since March 2020 (Board member since March 2017) and a Board member of Alistithmar for Financial Securities & Brokerage Company (Alistithmar Capital) since November 2018. He is also a member of several Board Committees in these companies. Mr. Al-Fughom holds a Master of Science degree in Investment Management from Cass Business School, London and Bachelors of Science (Honors) degree from Greenwich University, London. He has also completed a Management Development Program from Brown Brothers Harriman, New York, and has completed several executive education and short training courses from reputable institutions globally including Harvard Business School, INSEAD and Wharton.

Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali
Board member- Independent

Mr. Mohammed Al Ali has over 40 years of finance and accounting experience which included responsibility for Saudi Aramco’s global accounting activities and financial controls, managing corporate financial records, and developing and maintain programs to assist management in monitoring and evaluating corporate performance. Mr. Mohammed used to be the Former Senior Vice President of Finance at Saudi Aramco. He served on several of the company’s executive committees too. Mohammed experience also includes memberships on boards of directors for a variety of Saudi Aramco subsidiary and joint venture entities responsible for shipping, refining, petrochemicals and sales and marketing activities. Mr Al-Ali earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Denver University. Mr. Al-Ali also used to be on the Board of The Saudi Investment Bank since July 2014 till March 2022, while he also had the privilege of being the Second Chairman of GCC Board Directors Institute between the period 2010-2014. Currently he serves in the Board of Saudi Energy Efficiency Centre and Chairman of audit and risk committee . He is also a Board Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Tarsheed.

Khaled Abdulaziz Alrayes, CFA
Board Member - Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Khaled Alrayes is the CEO of Alistithmar Capital. He joined Alistithmar Capital in April 2018 and has nearly 19 years of career experience, including Investment Management, Investment Banking, Direct Investments and Private Equity. Prior to joining Alistithmar Capital, he was the Chief Investment Officer of Aseer Company, a multi-investment publicly traded company, managing a diversified portfolio of investments including: Direct Investments, Private Equity, Public Equity, and Real Estate. Prior to that, he was a Director at the investment banking vertical of Al Rajhi Capital. He also worked as a Manager at the investment banking division of Alistithmar Capital. He successfully closed multiple rights issue, private placement, merger & acquisition, and restructuring transactions for companies in various sectors. He served in a number of boards and board committees for LLC/CJSC in various sectors including: food and beverage processing, real estate, packaging, private equity, and others. Khaled holds an MBA and an MS in Finance from the University of Denver, Colorado, and is a CFA charter-holder.

Shankar Chattanathan
Chief corporate performance officer

Mr. Shankar Chattanathan is the Chief Corporate Performance Officer since 1st of October 2024.

He was Advisor to the Chief Financial Officer of the Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB) since May 2023. Prior to this, he was the CFO for the Saudi Investment Bank from March 2021 to April 2023 and he was also General Manager of Operations from September 2009 to April 2016. 

Prior to joining SAIB, he held the roles of Head of Operations in different Banks in the Middle East and senior operations roles at Citibank in India. Mr. Chattanathan has more than 30 years of experience in the Banking industry. He is an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in India, as well as a Cost Accountant. Mr. Shankar is an Audit Committee Member at Alistithmar Capital since 2020.

Waleed AlNekhaish
Head of Asset Management

 Waleed joined Alistithmar Capital in Jan 2023 as the Head of Asset Management, he is managing the asset management team that over sees the management of public funds and private mandates that range from money markets, equities, fixed income, etc. Waleed has more than 18 years of experience in formulating strategic investment plans, building and managing portfolios and funds. He has a Bachelor degree of Science in Finance from Prince Sultan University.

ATEEGI AL-ATIKI
Head of Brokerage & Margin Lending

Ateegi Alatiki is the Head of Brokerage & Margin Lending at Alistithmar Capital. He joined Alistithmar capital in 2023. Ateegi is an investment professional with over 15 years of professional investment experience with local, international and regional investment companies where he held various roles within Asset Management, Institutional Brokerage and Access products with main focus on Equities Trading and Execution Ateegi is responsible for managing both the Brokerage and the Margin Lending departments, providing services in the local securities market, selected international securities markets, Murabaha financing and overdraft facilities. 

Ateegi holds a Bachelors of Science degree from University of Wisconsin in the U.S.A.

Ali Odhwani
Head of Internal Audit

Ali joined SAIB BNP Paribas Asset Management Company (which was then merged with Alistithmar Capital) in 2011 and is now the Head of Internal Audit. Ali plays a critical role in delivering the organization’s strategy by objectively assessing the adequacy of governance, risk management and internal control system. With over 19 years of experience, he has previously established Internal Audit divisions in entities at country and regional level. During this period, he held several positions, viz., Regional Head of Audit - East Africa & Head of Internal Audit, Pakistan for agencies within the Aga Khan Development Network headquartered in Geneva, and Deputy Head of Audit for Telenor Microfinance Bank, Pakistan. Ali has also worked as external auditor with Ernst & Young (EY) in Pakistan for over 4 years, specializing in financial institution audits. Being trained in corporate strategy including KPIs and Balanced Scorecards, Ali ensures alignment and infusion of internal control processes into strategy development and monitoring models. Ali is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) from UK and a Certified Internal Auditor by the Institute of Internal Auditors, US. He also holds a PGD in Organizational Leadership from University of Oxford, UK and Bachelors in Commerce from University of Karachi, Pakistan.

Maha Alomairi
Head of Shared Services

Maha joined Alistithmar Capital in Aug 2021 as the Head of Human Resources and became Head of Shared Services in March 2022. Maha has over 14 years of experience in Operations Management, Financial Analysis and Human Recourse Management. Prior to joining Alistithmar Capital Maha held various positions in Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB) since 2012 the most recent of which was Head of HR services. Maha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Financial from Ahlia University, Bahrain.

Navindra Rajapakshe
Head of Information Technology

Navindra joined Alistithmar Capital in Mar 2020 and is the Head of Information Technology. He is responsible for the functioning and high availability of systems used by Brokerage, Asset Management, Investment Banking and Real Estate groups within Alistithmar Capital. He carries over 16   years of extensive cross-functional experience in delivering IT strategy. Navindra holds MBA from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.

Mutaib, Head of Brokerage & Asset Management Operations at Alistithmar Capital, has been appointed in 2018. He has more than 22 years of experience in investment operations and custody services in the financial services sector with local and CGG companies.

Mutaib is instrumental in managing and overseeing operations of local and international brokerage services, asset management and custody at Alistithmar Capital, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial solutions.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from King Abdulaziz University, And holds advance certificates in the fields of technology, management and finance.

Zahoor Amanullah, FCA, FCMA – CFO
Chief Financial Officer

Zahoor is the CFO at Alistithmar Capital.  He joined Alistithmar Capital in January 2012. 

Zahoor has more than 30 years of experience in finance and accounting field. 

Prior to joining Alistithmar Capital, he held numerous leaderships positions in multiple organizations, including the position of CFO at SAIB BNP Paribas Asset Management in KSA, the position of CFO & Company Secretary at PICIC Asset Management Company Limited in Pakistan and the position of Finance Manager at Pak Asian Fund. Ltd in Pakistan.

Zahoor is a Chartered Accountant and Cost & Management Accountant from Pakistan and currently holds fellow membership of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan.


Sharia Governance:

In line to comply with Sharia governance general practices requirements and legislation issued by the Capital Market Authority.

To achieve this, ICAP have appointed Sharia Review Bureau (“SRB”) to adhere to the best practices and guidelines required for Sharia Governance.

SRB will undertake the tasks of managing Sharia discussions related to the company activities, structuring products, and issuing Sharia reports, in addition to working to raise the level of compliance with Sharia controls and standards in the Company.

Alistithmar Capital provides its customers with a number of Shariah Compliant Investment products which includes Shariah Compliant Funds, Murabaha, Equity and Structured products.

SRB will ensure the complete independence of the committee members, making the decision-making and Sharia confirmation processes effective.

For the purpose of effective Sharia governance and supervision, two renowned and qualified Sharia scholars have been assigned. The Sharia Committee independently issues pronouncements, and these rulings are binding on us. The names of the Sharia Committee members are provided below:

A Sharia scholar who procured his PhD from Edinburgh University (UK) and Masters from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University (KSA). He has led a broad range of engagements in the US, Europe, and the GCC, focusing on banking and investment products, real-estate acquisitions, Islamic Insurance management, listed securities, and private equity fund. His product-based experience spans sukuks, home mortages, leasing, and SME Financing and asset management transactions.

He wrote many research and articles related to the Islamic banking sector that were published in many newspapers, most notably Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper.
